We had writer coaches for two Portola classes last year, and we want it for more students. But the first step is to bring the program back for 2012-13, get it solidified at our school for a second year and pave the way for future expansion to more classes and grade levels. English teacher Carol Renee said, “I just heard today that ONE of my regular English classes will get to have writing coaches. Our ELA scores went UP last year. Don’t you think WriterCoach Connection made a difference? I do! Maybe if more contributions are made, both of my needier English classes may have this privilege.”
We need to raise $3,055 more to bring WriterCoach Connection back this year. Please help today by going to firstgiving.com to make your tax-deductible donation. As you can see, we’re getting there, but we need your help to move that thermometer!
You can also save the 7% cut taken by the website vendor by writing a check payable to Community Alliance for Learning and mailing it to CAFL, PO Box 6098, Albany, CA 94706.
Also, be sure to take advantage of corporate matching funds if offered through your employer. Double the benefit of your contribution!
Whether you are able to make a financial contribution or not, please consider volunteering with Writer Coach Connection. It is enormously fulfilling and allows a view into the inner workings of our neighborhood middle school! Here’s more information. Trainings are being held this week and next in El Cerrito!
Finally, if you would like one more way to support WriterCoach Connection, please come to the El Cerrito City Council meeting on October 2nd to explain what the WriterCoach Connection means to our community and urge City funding for WCC at Portola.
Already a donor, supporter, and/or coach? Thank you!
